We did more agreement writing for term 4. Argument writing is one of my favourite writing prompts.
this prompt was obviously "Should Teachers use the right gender pronouns for their students? "

students?
students?
All through pronouns can be a difficult subject, I strongly believe that
teachers should use the preferred pronouns for their students.

If you make a mistake it's fine, be prepared to make mistakes and to
apologise. Maybe even use a form
to give students more privacy, The reasons I believe you should; it'll make
coming to school easier for a lot of students, It’ll introduce more lgbtq+ into
the school and community making it more normal for people.

Getting to know your students at the start of the year is an important thing.
if you do a form getting to know them and even add in a question that asks.
‘What pronouns do you want to be called?’ this not only would make it open to
what they're comfortable with it can make a good relationship between
everyone in the class who uses it, it'll make the student feel more
comfortable and in other situations safer. Making this difference will make
kids more willing to go to school.

Have you heard the LGBTQ+ slurs?
This can be a result from not being taught about the community,
using correct pronouns can be a start to people understanding it more.

As long as the students okay with being called it i believe that it's their right
to be called that. As long as its reasonable and not a joke, You'll get kids who
make jokes about it but if you see them use it more than once you know its
more than likely that's what they go by. Letting Trans, Non binary and gender
fluid etc use they prounous they want is just a start to how we can make the
school system more bully free.

Kids being able to keep that in school and not have it leave will help with
situations such as homophobic family members.
situations such as homophobic family members.
Its okay to make a mistake and call them by the wrong thing,
Just be willing to apologise and improve will be enough. Making mistakes when
it comes to LGBTQ+ is natural and happens all the time.

In conclusion,
I believe that students should be called by the pronouns they would like.
It not only will make them happier it could lower the bullying rate and make
people understand it more, Make kids excited to learn and come to school.
Their are different situations in peoples lives and having this could make
having homophobic people in their life a lot easier to deal with. Kids learning
to accept it at a young age will make people when they're older a lot less
hateful.
